Tramp

Trampoline
This trampoline is more than 30yrs old. For Chirstmas one year the Eather Kids had a choice 3 small presents each or one big one to share. We chose the BIG one and had years of fun. The tramp now lives in Gladstone with the guests. Quite a few Myella guests fell off it so for safety we gave it away, also it was nice to have the same childhood memories as the grand kids.

Peter's 70th Party

Olive and Peter listening to the speaches at Dad's party. It was also the 10yr brithday of Myella farm stay and the opening of the new wing rooms.

Kangaroo Skiing
I LOVE this sign it's on the way to Rockhampton. On this same stretch of road a very unlucky guy riding a bicycle was hit by a dead kangaroo. Yep, he was riding his bike in one direction and a car coming the other way hit a roo and it was propelled through the air and landed on the innociety cyclist and broke a few bones, including his jaw.

Making Beer

Here is Peter and guests in background making beer. Peter is putting the caps on the bottles and the guests are filling them. It's about 4% alcohol

Strange Encounters

Catering for Locals

Catering for Locals
Mum really enjoys the challenge of catering and now that we have a bay-marie and refridgerated stanless steel serving trolly the Xmas parties for the Land Care Committee, Baralaba Hospital, CWA Ladies and the Senior Citizens groups went really well.

Tasmania

Mum and Dad in Tasmania
Olive took this picture, she thinks she's a bad photographer. I LOVE this picture and think it would make a good image to use as a puzzle.

Lyn Watering Children

Hosing The Kids
A typical day leading to Christmas, a water fight. We don't get many fires so might as well use the fire hose for something. This is Lyn hosing Jessie.

Old Writting

Old Writing
Don't you just love this writing. It was written on the picture above.

Grace Eather

Grace Eather

Alwyn Torenbeek

Alwyn Torenbeek
Alwyn has been a great influence at Myella and Lyn. I love this picture...he looks a bit like he could walk on water here. Infact he had just walked through the rain. He comes out with the funnest sayings like...."I feel like a bundle of backward somersaults." or "I always wanted to be an Afgan boundry rider."

Alwyn grew up at Myella and is a great friend and has some great stories of people he's met and the things he's seen and done. He is a very intellegent man who has an insacable love of life and adventure - which of course has got him into trouble some times...but oh well what is life about anyway.

Alwyn loves all animals and especially HORSES.

Daisy getting in Hammock

Calf in Hammock
This is daisy who can't understand why all the guests get to lay in the hammock and she does not.

Grace Eather

1900's Picnic
This is Grace Eather sitting in the white dress, I'm not sure of any other details of this picture.

Ivo Eather

Ivo was injured in the war in France. He passed away when Peter was approx 11yrs old. Ivo left wife Grace Eather and Children Dick, Don, Kitty, Peter and Harry.

Toby

Toby the dog
Toby showed an interest in "wildlife" every early in his life. It's interesting living with a dog that loves to chase and a roo that loves to hop away...What makes me mad is when the roo goes INTO the dog's kennel and then we have to rouse on the dog so he won't kill the roo! Poor Toby!

Butcher

Brian the Butcher
Here he is cutting meat for our farm. We use to butcher our own meat but we now use a mobile butcher. He is a lot faster than we were and he presents the meat very well.

Beach Photo

Beach Photo
This is a random photo taken by a guest and I LOVE it.

Arial View

Here is a view from a light plane over the house and garden at myella in 2004

Peter Ronald Eather

Peter Ronald Eather
This is my Father Peter, he is quite a character and is still very active. He was born in 1933 and he grew up during the depression. He has a great attitude and a sharp mind.

My Freind Terry Embry

This is my special friend Terry with a pony we called Snowy. Terry stays with us most Christmas holidays, he lives in Bundaburg Qld. Terry loves horses, Western movies, playing the mouth organ, mashed potato and softdrink! He has a wicked sense of humour and he calls me "Sis".

Here is the same scene from the sunset at Myella. It's amazing what a bit of rain can do.

Ken, (Blue-blue the dog) Lyn and Barbara

Here are the Eather Kids at the "old Myella" probaby 1974. Note Barb's legs are still this skinny.

Olive Getting Dressed for her wedding

What's the chances of old photos like this popping up. Here is Vida Eather doing Olive's hair for her wedding. The picture is taken on "Kelewa" which Olive lived until she was married aged 21yrs.

Olive & Peter's Wedding

Peter and Olive were married in Baralaba in the Catholic Church.

Torenbeek Place 2007

This is Torenbeek Place today. From what we can gather it was owned by atleast 4 families since 1937. Torenbeek, Tucker, Ellen, Moretti. The Eather family purchased the land in 1985 and it was used as a storage shed for farming goods and Ken Eather lived for a short time also. Since 1993 we have removed an water damaged bathroom, put in a septic (the toilet use to be 15m from the house with a frog to two in residence) and put in a laundry, oiled the wooden floor and built concrete paths and replaced the roof after it was blown off in a storm 1994. In 2007 we have renovated by oiling the exterior of the building, paining the interoor, restumping and putting in an extra shower and toilet.

1994 Torenbeek Place after we had cleaned up around the yard and we put a garden in. This house was moved from 500km on a truck in 1937 when Myella was won in a land ballot. The house was lived in by the Torenbeek Family until the 1960's.

This is a picture I got from Alwyn Torenbeek it is of his friend Fred from NZ. Alwyn and he followed the rodeo circut in the 1950's. I love this picture especially because of the reaction of the audience. Enjoy...

My Dog Toby

This is my dog Toby he was born late Feb 2007 he is a blue heeler/ boarder collie cross. I have never had a dog of my own, (well I do share him with lots of guests) but I do feed him which makes him mine in HIS eyes. Early in Januray we are going to Gympie (7hrs drive) to a dog school I am really looking forward to it. It is about working cattle. Toby has the ability but as you would guess is quite spoilt and has a love of chasing Kangaroos which doesn't help much. He also returns a ball well and takes socks away well!

Our cows come with maps

I absolutely LOVE this picture, notice Australia on the shoulder.
